Ex-Beatles in spat over credits, Marvina Heugh
Ringo Starr has blasted his former Beatles bandmate, Paul McCartney, for switching songwriting credits on a new album, Sky News reported on Monday.
Starr branded McCartney as underhanded. The controversy
started last year, according to the report, when McCartney released a new album, Back In The US Live and switched the names on the songwriting credits around so that his appeared first. He had written the songs along another Beatle, John Lennon, now deceased.
The original credit tag had reportedly been Lennon-McCartney, and was changed to By Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Starr says that McCartney was wrong to have done this, and should have sought permission from Lennons widow, Yoko Ono, beforehand.
Sky News quoted Starr as saying: I think the way he did it was
underhanded. Hes wanted to do it for years. Im not going
to tell you his reasons, hell tell you them."
